Kate Spencer feels weird writing bios in the third person so please, hang on for a sec.
*Puts on First Person hat.*
Much better. Hi there! I'm Kate Spencer, the best-selling author of four books. Professionally, over the years, I've also won two iHeart Radio Podcast Awards for my work on Forever35, interviewed celebrities on just about every red carpet imaginable as an entertainment writer and reporter for VH1, taught, performed, and toured doing improv comedy with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, prepped green rooms for Oprah Winfrey, and sold food-grade dog treats at a gourmet dog biscuit bakery called Bone Appetit, which sadly, no longer exists.
As you may be able to gather from this varied list of pursuits, I am (proudly) neurodivergent, and my writing also touches upon such topics as ADHD, mental health (anxiety and OCD specifically), grief, parenting, and pop culture. I've had work featured everywhere from Cosmopolitan to the Washington Post, and in numerous anthologies and essay collections.
Humor, heart, and honesty are the connective tissue of everything I do. (Yes, even selling overpriced dog biscuits. Trust me, you had to laugh to do that job.)
When I'm not traveling around the country seeing my favorite band, Phish, or preaching about the greatness of Costco, you can find me driving my kids to school with an open coffee cup in hand. (No travel mugs for me, I live for chaos and preventable spills!) I'm also a devoted pickleball player, yoga student, journal-er, and lover of the outdoors. A native New Englander, I currently live in Los Angeles with my family and our two dogs.

As a freelance writer, Kate covers topics like pop culture, beauty, celebrity, parenting, grief, and politics through an intersectional lens.
